08 Battle of the Bands Kicks Off

LIVERPOOL’S most promising young musicians are being given the chance to play at some of the summer’s biggest gigs.Liverpool Culture Company is looking for bands and individual artists aged between 14 and 25 to take part in Streetwaves 2008.
The competition will see the city’s brightest musical talent battling it out at heats in each of Liverpool’s five neighbourhood areas before a panel of industry experts.
The “most ready” talent from each heat will win a prize package including the chance to perform live at summer festivals across Merseyside.
Last year’s winners appeared at events including Mathew Street Music Festival and Creamfields.

The Mersey Beatles in Concert

The world’s most authentic recreation of the world’s four most celebrated musicians.

The Mersey Beatles are a Beatles tribute band. They have been described by John Lennon’s sister Julia as “the best ever Beatles tribute band“. You can decide for yourself if you get down to the Ellesmere Port Civic Hall on Friday 25 April 2008 where they will be taking part in an official Capital of Culture event. The real Beatles played the exact same venue 45 years ago before a crowd of 700.
